Telephone Advice Calls
You may, on occasion call the surgery and arrange to speak to a doctor instead of making an appointment. You will be asked to give brief details of your request and a contact telephone number and the doctor will return your call at a mutually convenient time.
These calls are usually when you wish to speak to a specific doctor about for example, medication they have prescribed for you or some tests results they want to pass on to you or you want to discuss with them. The doctors are not routinely in the practice every day and you will probably have to wait a day or two.
Urgent Advice Calls
These calls are for acute medical problems and are dealt with by whoever is the duty doctor at the time. The reason for your request will be taken by the call handler and passed to the duty doctor who will usually call you back. If the duty doctor feels your request does not require a response on the day the call handler may be asked to contact you to advise you of this.
